MISSION
The mission of the Reagan library program is to encourage the lifelong love of reading and to ensure that students acquire the skills to effectively and efficiently find, use, evaluate, and communicate information. |
FACILITY
The Reagan library opened in August, 2004. Our beautiful 4,000 square foot facility houses about 17,000 books and audiovisual materials and is the educational hub of the school. Fiction and biography books are located on the upper level along with recorded books, PlayAways, and reference materials, while the lower level of the library houses non-fiction books. Twenty multipurpose workstations used for instructional purposes are on the upper level near the circulation desk. |
SCHEDULE
About 790 students and teachers in grades 6-8 are served by the Reagan Library. It is open from 8:10 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. We operate on a flexible schedule to allow students and teachers continual access to the library and librarian. Teachers sign up for a time to bring their classes to get new books, participate in information skills lessons, and/or conduct research, but individual students may come to the library at point of need. The librarian is also available to help with research or other lessons in the adjacent computer lab. |
EXPECTATIONS
Students should respect the rights of all library users and work quietly. Each student should help keep the library organized and looking beautiful by returning used materials to their proper places, straightening bookshelves, pushing in chairs, picking up trash, etc. |
CIRCULATION GUIDELINES
1. Students may check out five books at a time for a two-week period.
2. Students are responsible for returning their books on time and undamaged. Books should be checked for damage before they are taken from the library.
3. Students who have lost a book may only be allowed to check out a paperback book until the
book is paid for or found.
